Series: Persona 4
Name: Naoto Shirogane Gender: Female Height: 4' 9.86'' [152 cm] Weight: 108 lbs Age: 16 (Or at least, she was by the end of the game.)
Class: ...I always forget this. *needs to check*
Clubs: None [Though, she wouldn't say no to a Junior Detective's Club.]
Likes:
Puzzles: From table puzzles to Sudoku, Naoto loves sitting down for hours on end to solve them. They are brilliant means of training the mind and she enjoys testing herself to see how quickly she can solve them. Each time she starts her goal is to beat her last time. Currently, her record stands at ten minutes for a 300-piece puzzle and less than five for Sudoku. Not to mention they are simply ridiculously fun.
Mind Games: Naoto enjoy mind games very much. While she doesn’t condone the use of them to be cruel, and she very much hates them being used against herself, being able to get inside the head of others and joke around is her on means of teasing people. It’s something of a game, though she does her best not to go too far. The ability also proves useful when trying to catch criminals or get a confession.
High Places: This explains itself. Wither it’s a tree or high hill, the young detective likes to be up somewhere where she can observe the world without being noticed. Being up high makes her feel as if being short isn’t as much of a challenge as it normally proves to be, and eliminates the feeling that she has no power in her life. High places help her think and get her thoughts straight as well as helping her relax whenever she’s stressed. Her favourite place to be is up on the highest hill in Inaba with a certain someone…
Mysteries: As expected of someone who wants to be a detective. It doesn’t matter if the case is big, small, simple, or hard; as long as she can have part in solving the case, Naoto will be happy. This comes from not only her personal tastes, but the influence of her family as well, because of them and the life she grew up in; Naoto wants nothing more than to be a true detective someday. She’s loved solving problems ever since she was a small child and that won’t ever change.
Building Things/Customizing: From models to little trinkets, if it can be taken apart, Naoto will want to try it. She enjoys modifying simple items and turning them into something more useful or complicated, and this is easily seen in her rather impressive “Tools of the Detective.” Learning how things work is a hobby of hers, and the amount of fun that comes with it is endless. She’s very good with her hands (no puns, thank you) and can put items together as quickly as she takes them apart.
Dislikes:
Being treated like a child: Being young is something that bothers Naoto a lot. She knows she can’t change it, but her age is one of the main reason she believes that she is looked down upon by the adults in her profession. Her age is one of the biggest barriers between herself and her goal, and she despises being treated like more than anything. She wants nothing more than for others to accept her for her brain and not judge on the body it’s kept in.
Being a female: Another major barrier for Naoto is her gender. While she no longer looks down upon it like she used to (thanks to one Souji Seta), many times she still feels that people do not take her seriously because of it. It is a hindrance for her goals more often than not, but she still continues to push forward despite this. While her style of dress and mannerisms can still be considered very “masculine” she no longer denies or hides the fact that she is a female.
Ignorance: Some say ignorance is bliss, but Naoto can easily get frustrated with others if they are too much so. Explaining things more than once is bothersome, and having someone completely ignore her when she attempts to point things out is a quick way to flare her temper.
Dresses and skirts: It isn’t to say that she hates feminine things simply because they are feminine, she just prefers not to partake in them. Dresses and skirts make her feel uncomfortable, and she never saw the point in using make-up. Despite her well-formed figure, she takes no pleasure in showing it off and prefers to wear things that don’t “show it off.”
Being underestimated: Speaks for itself, really. Naoto hates being underestimated simply because she is young and female. Don't do it and she won't be upset with you.
Being Alone: Having no friends growing up really bothered Naoto. Her grampa and Yakushiji [her grandfather's assistant] were the only people she ever had to confide in or talk to. Of course, she loved them both dearly, but sometimes, they just weren't what she needed...
Not Understanding: When she doesn't understand something, Naoto will put all her efforts into trying to make sense of it. She hates it when she can't come up with an answer for something and feels at a loss when this happens.
Personality: First and foremost, Naoto is very independent, and despises it when anyone tries to disprove or question this. While she is far from egotistical, she has no qualms in announcing her status as a detective and takes pride in the title. She's sharp and quick, and can often find numerous answers from little to nothing when other other detective's are left clueless, and it is due to her skill (and the high influence of her family name) that she is often called in as a consultant or for help in cases that even the best of detectives would get jealous of.
Professionally, she has no issues with talking to anyone. If there is a case to solve, she'll speak until she is hoarse to prove or find and answer, and will stop at nothing to find the end. However, on a personal level, even some of the most basics of social skills can leave the young girl at a loss. She is quiet inept at making friends, though this isn't so much due the fact that she is different as the idea that she grew up alone and never learned the normal social cues that most children would. For a very long time, the closest she had to a friend was her own grandfather and Yakushiji. Thus she is able to get along easier with those older than a younger crowd.
Because of her love for reading, Naoto is nothing short of brilliant. From detective novels to "How to" books, she'll happily read through anything she can get her hands on. She excels in both book and street smarts, but again, her social ability on an informal level is poor, and simple gestures can leave her baffled, especially when it comes to affection. Naoto has a firm belief that anyone who claims admiration or love is "confused" and often becomes annoyed when someone claims to care for her in a affectionate manner, claiming that they have no idea who she truly is and believes it is impossible for them to have feelings of the like.
Naoto is quite stubborn when it comes to what she believes in, and will push forward when she thinks she has found an answer, even if that causes risk to herself. More often than not, her train of thought often falls under "as long I can solve the case, it doesn't matter what happens to me". Be it bravery or sheer will, Shirogane will always put the case before herself. However, while she can be impulsive at times, she much prefers to think through her actions before making them because of the high influence logic has on her thoughts.
(...I somehow feel as if I'm being redundant. The rest of the profile seems to address her personality already. I should have written this part first.)
History: When she was very young, Naoto lost both her parents, but was quickly taken under the wing of her grandfather and his assistant. While she doesn't remember much of her earlier childhood, she does remember that, when her parents were not working on a case, they were both warm and considerate people. They loved spending time with their daughter and vague images of picnics and dinners together linger in the depths of Naoto's mind. The time she spent when her parents were still alive is far from unhappy, and often, she wishes she could go back to that.
Alas, they died, and she grew up with her grandfather (affectionately referred to as "grampa"), though she grew close to him quickly and had no problems with this (except for the fact that she missed her parents.) Her grandfather was kind to her, and always treated her fairly, and it was likely his kind nurturing and the environment around him that lead the young female to so love the field of police and detective work. Hours upon hours would be spent in her grampa's study with her nose inside a mystery novel or "How to..." book.
Whenever she wasn't reading, her hands were constantly moving as they put together a gadget or gizmo of some sort, or customizing something which already existed. Although, there were times when she would set aside the novels and building kits to sit at her grandfather's side and help him with whatever mystery he was currently working on. Soon enough, she had earned herself the title of "Junior Detective" from clients and embraced the name happily. After all, it was a step closer to where she wanted to be.
At a young age, Naoto had finally earned enough respect to assist and take on her own cases, and solved many of them in record time leaving the police and public baffled. It was easy for her to find answers that officials would look over without thinking about it, and putting the pieces and clues together was as easy for her as it is for a chef to make a sandwich. When she was doing her work, she was happy, but when the case was over and the mystery was solved, it was back to the novels and gadgets, because really, there was nothing else for her to do.
At the age of 15, Naoto was assigned to assist in a rather large case taking place of Inaba that consisted of mysterious murders and disappearances. At first, she only saw it as "another case" and almost as something of a game. It was her goal to find the answer before the police, though she never imagined or fathomed the answers she ended up finding. The "Investigation Squad" baffled her at first, and she saw then as a challenge. They had a better idea of what was going on with the police, and soon, it became a race between herself and the other teens, one that she didn't want to loose.
However, after biting off far more than she could chew and certain incidents inside the TV, she ended up joining the people she'd seen as a "threat" and quickly grew attached to them (one more-so than the others in particular.) While it was awkward at first, Naoto had finally made the friends she had wanted all her life, and all her loyalty sat with them. While the group is small, the eight member group (not including herself) are the few people outside her grandfather and Yakushiji who she would willing risk everything for. In a sense, they and her family [grampa and Yakushiji] are her world... though she never imagined, even after growing close to them, that she would fall madly in love with for one...

Did you read the rules...? ...I see no point in answering this question when it was I who wrote the rules. Why would one write something without reading it? Would that not be like tapping one's fingers against the keyboard without looking? It is impossible to write something without knowing what you've written, as your mind must think of the words to write as they are written.
