Personality:
Satsu is a pretty calm young woman, all things considered. Where most females her age suffer from insecurities and issues with their self-images and self-confindence, Satsu seems to be above these worries, residing in a sea of undisturbed waters. It's not that she's better than anyone else, necessarily, nor does she consider herself to be, but she knows that whatever 'issues' she has, there's always someone out there who has it worse, and this knowledge has led to the attitude that most bad reactions are overreactions. One would be hard-pressed to get a truly violent reaction out of her, though that's not to say she's not all-too-willing to kick some ass. It's just that normally, her heart isn't in it, and she doesn't have a personal stake in the matter.
Satsu has low gender-identification standards, and because of this, the fact that she is often assumed to be male doesn’t really bother her. In fact, she’ll occasionally encourage the misconception for her own amusement, though usually she just ignores all gender tags and simply doesn't bother correcting someone when they imply that she's male.
When it comes to duties, she's not the type to shirk them lightly, or at all. If Satsu is given a job to do, or a task to complete, she won't 'goof off' or 'play around' until it's done if she can help it. Nor will she drop something she's supposed to do in favor of something she wants to do, no matter how tempting it may be. She simply isn’t the type to procrastinate- she does what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, no matter how unpleasant it may be. When her work is done, though, she often spends her nights out on the streets with her few friends, who happen to, most often, be of the tough, surly, biker-type.
That's not to say she stands for their troublemaking bullshit- when that starts, she heads off elsewhere, making her own way.
History:
Satsu grew up in the most loving home one could ask for. Her father wasn’t there, but her mother always smothered her in hugs and kisses, reading her stories every night and making sure there were no nightmare monsters under her bed or in her closet. She was rarely denied anything, but she wasn’t spoiled. She knew that her mother worked hard day and night for what little they had, and Satsu chose more often than not to forego what she wanted for the good of the both of them. After all, it was just toys, or dolls, or stupid dresses- she didn't need more of that, when the bare minimum got her by.
This attitude stuck with her as she grew up, and she grew away from dreams of cute uniforms and handsome boyfriends, seeing them as the impracticalities that they were. Pretty little dresses gave way to comfortable jeans and sneakers, and neatly cropped hair grew shaggy and uncared for. Along with her naturally broad shoulders, flat chest and slim hips, she started being mistaken for a boy more and more often once she hit puberty.
She took her mother's habits to heart, working hard and pretty rarely goofing off. Her calm, placid attitude alternately got her into a lot of trouble and made her quite a few friends, depending on the situation- it seemed, usually, that most were afraid to 'bully' someone who clearly had no interest in any of it, who simply wouldn't react, which saved her from a lot of torment in middle school. It was near the end of middle school that she fell in with a gang of bikers, but she abandoned that soon after, disinterested. She kept in touch with a few of them, but their rowdiness was usually just too much for her.
Her good grades easily got her into Yasogami Highschool when she was fourteen, and over the years she discovered many things- that people were really highly over-rated, but not bad to have around; that the ‘cool’ students were usually the ones who were in the most trouble; and that the stupid, stupid rumors that small-town kids passed around were amusing to listen to, but best not to think too hard about.
To this day, she spends most of her free time relaxing wherever she can regardless of the strange looks she gets, or fake-sparring with her few 'tough-guy' friends for exercise.
Appearance:
Satsu is a tall, lanky, and overall androgynous young woman. Her long black hair often is tangled with random ornaments dangling from the ends, and her eyes are a deep midnight blue that is almost, but not quite, black. Her various outfits tend to be fairly loose and baggy, and her body is trim and lean enough that even when she wears the fitted school uniform, she wears the male version, and no one can really tell that there's anything not quite right about it.
Examples 1, 2, and 3.
Glasses:
Thick green-and-black frames, seen here.
Weapon:
A long metal pole, the edges of which are crimped together. It may have previously been the handle of a mop, but there’s no solid evidence. Alternately, anything long and metallic.
