Series: Persona 3.
Name: Chidori Yoshino.
Gender: Female.
Height: About average, maybe a little taller.
Weight: Unhealthily skinny.
Age: Late teens - let's say seventeen.
Class: N/A.
Clubs: N/A.
Likes:
~Drawing. Though she's never taken a single lesson and she'd be hard-pressed to name a single well-known artist, Chidori is rarely seen without her sketchbook. Whether or not her sketchy, abstract drawings count as "art" is up to the viewer, but she doesn't mind either way. She just draws because she likes to.
~Lolita fashion. To the extent of wearing nothing else, despite the stares it draws her way in public and the inconvenience of climbing countless floors of Tartarus in heavy platform shoes.
~Sweet things. Matching her appearance if not her temperament, she has quite the sweet tooth. She's a semi-regular customer of Sweet Shop and intimately familiar with the section of Changall Cafe's menu consisting of all things girly and covered in whipped cream. (Given that the suppressants rob her of anything resembling an appetite, it's a wonder she eats anything at all.)
~Pain. Pain doesn't phase her one bit - in fact, she embraces it. When she's lost, or scared, or overwhelmed, pain brings her to her senses; she cuts her hands when she's under stress, and takes comfort in both the sensation and the speed with which it vanishes. Feeling pain and drawing blood are proof that she's alive... and the Spring of Life is proof that there is one person, at least, who will always care for her.
~Her 'friend'. The bond between Chidori and Medea is tighter than that between most Persona-users and their Personas; Chidori refers to Medea in much the way a child would an imaginary friend, and seems to consider her a distinct entity rather than a facet of her own psyche. She is extremely dependent on Medea's presence, and very possessive of her Evoker, to the point of becoming absolutely hysterical if it is taken from her.
Dislikes:
~Stupidity. She has a very low tolerance for idiocy. It doesn't take much to irritate her, and when she's annoyed she has no qualms about showing it - nor about simply walking off and refusing to deal with someone who won't get their act together to her satisfaction.
~Hospitals. Thanks to the Kirijo Group, she associates hospitals and doctors with torture and death, and thus stays away from them at all costs. The mere smell of antiseptic is enough to make her violently sick to her stomach. If she gets sick she waits it out as best she can, and if she gets badly hurt, she retreats and rests until Spring of Life puts her right again; the thought of going to the emergency room will never cross her mind.
~Pills. Due to being reliant on the unpleasant and lethal suppressants - the side effects of which make her life extremely unpleasant on an almost constant level - she has an extremely negative view of all medication. She doesn't take painkillers (it helps, of course, that she doesn't fear pain), scoffs at the thought of vitamins, and would never dream of going near a hospital long enough to be prescribed anything else.
~Attachment. She tries not to let herself get attached to anything, because on the rare occasion she does she begins to dread losing whatever it is she's come to love. It's much easier for her to simply shut everyone away than to let someone in and risk being devastated when they leave.
~Nicknames. She has a name, thank you, and you'd do well to use it (assuming, that is, she's deemed you worthy of knowing it). She'll respond with equal annoyance to "hey, you, with the dress" as to something harmlessly cute like "Chidorin".
Personality: Though she (mostly) dresses the part, Chidori is no sweet, demure lolita; like a candy apple with a razor blade at its core, she only looks sweet on the outside. Graceful and elegant, she would play the part perfectly if she could only hold her tongue, but she would rather lash out at anyone who tries to get close than risk having them succeed. The walls she's built around herself are surely too high to climb and too strong to break, and that's the way she likes things. She doesn't need anyone else.
She is a girl who rarely smiles. Her lips naturally fall into a tight frown, and her eyes, when lifted from the pages of her ever-present sketchbook, rarely stray from lidded hostility (unless to slip into an outright glare). Short, precise sentences - "Get out of my way." "Stop staring." "What do you want?" - and frequent small sounds of annoyance are all most passersby can hope to get from her, and they can't be blamed for shaking their heads and moving on.
But there is a girl underneath the rudeness, and it is possible to find it.
She's been through a hell of a lot - no one in their right mind would deny that. When it comes to violence, and death, and hatred, she knows far more than a girl of her years should. Yet she shows a downright childlike naivety towards concepts such as love and unconditional kindness, confused and a little threatened by the idea of trusting someone to that extent. The only example of "love" she has is Jin, and she can't comprehend why he would give himself so completely to Takaya; the only kindness she knows is Takaya's, and he asks for plenty in return. Like a child's, her world consists of her and her experiences alone, and anything outside that bubble is dangerous, unwanted.
And, also like a child, she is far more dependent than she would have you believe. On Medea, whose power has countless times healed wounds that would otherwise have overwhelmed her; on Takaya, who provides for her and caters to her every whim. She would be utterly lost without them, but she would never admit as much.
Under the sharp edges and sharp words, Chidori is small, and scared, and fragile. Her sanity, her life, her everything depends on things staying exactly as they are. One little push in the wrong direction... and it could all come tumbling down.
History: Not much is known about Chidori's history - by others, or by Chidori herself. It is indescribably less painful to heed Takaya's advice and live in the moment than to dwell on the past, and so she's let herself forget a great deal of her childhood. What she does remember comes in bits and pieces, shared with no one and pushed aside to the deepest corners of her mind.
She does know that she had a family, once, and that she lost it much too early. Her childhood was spent fending for herself instead of, say, attending school, and while she gained a vast knowledge of survival and other useful things her book-smarts are very sorely lacking. Had Fate not intervened, she might very well have remained on the streets her whole life.
But she was scooped up by scientists working for the Kirijo Group instead, and thrown into their experiments on Personas. It was there that she developed her hatred of hospitals, though her memories of that time are the foggiest; she remembers only being surrounded by white, and meeting the two people with whom she now lives.
Somehow, she, Takaya, and Jin made it out alive, with information regarding the coming of Nyx and the end of the world. Takaya and Jin have devoted themselves to ensuring that comes about, but Chidori... she's content to just exist. Takaya keeps her alive, and safe, and fed, and so she is loyal to him in return. It's easier than having to fend for herself, that's all.
Appearance:
Evoker: Standard issue, though marked with the logo of the Kirijo Group instead of SEES' name.
Weapon: A hatchet on a chain.
Statistics:
~Academic: 2. Street-smart? Yes. Book-smart? ...not so much.
~Charm: 1. She looks like she'd be charming, until she looks at you...
~Courage: 6. Practically fearless.
Persona:
~Appearance: Here.
~Name: Medea.
~Arcana: Hanged Man.
~Drain: Fire.
~Weak: None.
~Null: Light and dark.
~Resist: None.
~Skills: Spring of Life, Agilao, Marukunda, Sexy Dance, Mudoon, Masukunda, Agidyne, Mind Charge.
Chidori is constantly healed by Spring of Life even if she's been deprived of her Evoker, and she can use it to heal others without summoning Medea. She also cannot be detected with the powers of scanning Personas, unless she chooses to make her presence known.
Medea did not awaken naturally in Chidori; she was forced out by the Kirijo Group's experiments, and would turn on her mistress utterly if not kept at bay with suppressants. Chidori is too devoted to Medea to do anything but take the suppressants religiously, though she is very much aware of how they're slowly killing her.
